Our Approach

Is a holistic delivery of education for children in our Australian context. We delve into best practice for early years learning while embracing our Indigenous culture, sustainability, nutrition and life skill development in a natural and engaging environment.

At Acacia Hill our philosophy and curriculum has been heavily influenced by the Reggio Emilia Approach.

This approach is a ‘child-friendly’ way of educating children, allowing them to be and belong to their world around them.  In our approach, we have adapted and focused on four key elements from Reggio Emilia, which fit into our Australian context and the developmental milestones of the early years.

Control

Children must have some control over the direction of their learning.

Experiences

Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, listening, seeing hearing and tasting.

Relationship

Children have a relationship with family, educators, peers, community and materials within the environment.

Opportunities

Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.

We also have a large focus on the life skills of a child, birth – 5 years.  We understand if we strive for success in this area, we are setting your child up with key knowledge and skill to communicate and adapt to various situations throughout their life.

Collectively we have named our approach the ‘Acacia Hill Curriculum’.
