This year Acacia Hill is focusing its year on Best Practice. Each month we will look at a part of our new philosopy aswell as a part of Loris Malaguzzi’s (Founder of the Reggio Approach) Hundred Languages.

The weekend saw me take a quick overnight trip to Melbourne to listen to the inspirational speaker Carla Rinaldi about the Reggio Emilia Approach. Carla worked closely for many years with Loris Malaguzzi (the founder of the approach). The purpose of the conference was to provoke our thinking on how to connect children’s experiences of learning, thinking, understanding and expressing themselves.

After a recent trip to Reggio Emilia we have had our passion for the Reggio approach reignited and are embarking on a journey to embed the approach in so much more of what we do. We have been inspired to learn more about the Reggio approach and how we can implement it here in Perth . (more…)
We love texture play at childcare and recently we have had a big focus on different textures. We have had lots of fun discovering how different things feel on our hands and feet. (more…)
